Description Shared Services Director Swindon, Newport, or Stockton-on-Tees Band H - £84,912 - £97,986 UKSBS is in an exciting period of transformation that will shape the future of shared services across government. Through the introduction of new technology platforms, service lines and clients, we are expanding both the scale and sophistication of what we do. This includes transitioning to a multi-ERP platform organisation, onboarding new government clients and reimagining how we deliver services to provide a seamless and digital-first customer experience. We are now seeking and experienced Services Director, reporting to the Chief Service Delivery Officer, who will set the strategic direction for service ownership across the organisation and our clients, ensuring alignment with business goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. The role provides senior leadership and oversight for all UKSBS’s service delivery functions, which includes HR, payroll, finance, procurement, and customer support services, ensuring operational excellence, high-quality client outcomes and a consistent focus on innovation and performance. The Services Director will also ensure services deliver value for money and reduce the cost to serve through efficiency, standardisation and service optimisation. Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following: Define and lead the strategic vision for service delivery, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives. Lead and empower Heads of Service Delivery to deliver high-quality, client-focused services that meet client’s performance expectations. Shape and sponsor initiatives to improve service delivery, operational efficiency and the client experience. Accountable for overall maintenance of appropriate service policies and standard operating procedures, ensuring legal compliance and alignment to HM government best practice. Steward organisational culture, promoting inclusivity, collaboration and innovation across all service lines. Exploit technology, automation and digital self-serve capability to increase first time resolution and reduce manual effort across services. Oversee resource allocation, workforce planning and capability development to ensure services are equipped to meet strategic goals and service delivery needs. Ensure compliance with governance, risk, audit and quality standards across all services. Represent the organisation externally, influencing senior stakeholders and securing buy-in for the service strategy. Deputise for the Chief Service Delivery Officer when required, including representing Service Delivery at Executive Committees and Board meetings. Provide tactical and operational advice to Executive and Senior Management. Provide visible leadership across the organisation, fostering a cohesive and high-performing senior leadership community. To be considered, you will possess the following: Proven leadership experience in strategic service ownership within complex or multi-client organisations Substantial working knowledge of the requirements for successful shared service delivery Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior and executive levels Demonstrable track record of driving operational improvement and service transformation Expertise in governance, risk and compliance frameworks and their application in a shared services environment Ability to lead and drive forward cultural change and foster innovation across large teams Experience within public-sector shared services or outsourced service delivery models would be highly advantageous Knowledge of Workday, Oracle or similar enterprise systems preferred Experience of implementing ERP systems in an operational setting The closing date for applications is Thursday 29th January 2026, with first stage interviews taking place week commencing 16th February 2026 For additional information and a confidential discussion please contact our Recruitment Team on recruiting@uksbs.co.uk.
