Clinical Trials Assistant (CTA)

Main duties of the job
* Assist in the delivery of first-class quality care to research participants and researchers.
* Support a portfolio of clinical trials in accordance with clinical trial protocols, laboratory manuals and all relevant regulatory standards.
* Collect and manage research data and study documentation (screening, consenting and interviewing study participants, recording and maintaining research data records, entering activity data, extracting information from databases).
* Provide clinical and administrative support to Research Nurses/Research Practitioners, including performing clinical tests and investigations, phlebotomy and laboratory work in processing and shipping samples.
* May support and be responsible for relevant studies in your own right.
* Work across all Dorset HealthCare locations, including the Weymouth Research Hub.
Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.
Employment terms
* This is a fixed-term role.
* For those with current NHS service, the role will be offered on a secondment basis only.
* Applicants requiring current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply.
Person Specification
TRAVEL
* Has own vehicle that can be used for patient visits and travel to Trust locations.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING
* Ability to communicate effectively with people in a research setting.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
* Excellent writing, numerical and verbal skills.
* Phlebotomy trained.
* Knowledge of a range of work procedures and practices.
JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting as a clinical support worker/healthcare assistant or similar role.
* Experience of working on research projects with participant contact.
PERSONAL QUALITIES/ATTRIBUTES
* Able to demonstrate commitment to high-quality care and service provision.
* Willingness to be flexible in approach and attitude.
