The Red Lion East Haddon, with stunning views over the rolling hills is looking for a Sous Chef to help take the pub and restaurant to the next level.

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in premium casual dining, banquet preparation, and kitchen management, with proven leadership abilities. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a prestigious establishment known for exceptional food quality and innovative menu offerings. The Sous Chef will be responsible for overseeing the kitchen in the Head Chefs absence, ensuring the highest standards of food safety, presentation, and taste are maintained at all times.

Duties

* Prepare and cook high-quality dishes in accordance with established recipes and menu specifications.
* Supervise and coordinate the activities of junior kitchen staff, including food preparation and plating.
* Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
* Oversee food safety protocols, ensuring compliance with health regulations and sanitation standards.
* Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating dietary considerations and customer preferences.
* Lead shift management by organizing station assignments and ensuring timely service during busy periods.
* Collaborate with catering and banquet teams to deliver exceptional service for large events.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, ensuring all equipment is properly maintained.
* Support training initiatives for new staff members, fostering a team-oriented environment focused on culinary excellence.

Skills

* Extensive culinary experience with a focus on fine dining, catering, or banquet services.
* Proven supervisory or team management experience within a high-volume kitchen environment.
* Strong knowledge of food production, food safety standards, and inventory management.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide kitchen staff effectively.
* Proficiency in menu planning, food handling, and kitchen operations management.
* Experience in restaurant management or hospitality settings is highly desirable.
* Ability to work under pressure during peak hours while maintaining attention to detail.
* Knowledge of dietary requirements and ability to adapt dishes accordingly.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent

Pay: £31,000.00-£33,000.00 per year
