Overview
We are seeking a positive, caring and self-motivated ARRS Pharmacist to join our experienced clinical team on a fixed-term basis funded through ARRS scheme, with a view to yearly renewal. There is funding in place until end of March 2027.

Responsibilities
* Conduct clinical medication reviews to proactively manage patients with complex polypharmacy, ensuring their treatment regimens are safe and effective.
* Serve as a primary point of contact internally, providing expert advice on prescription and medication queries.
* Support the repeat prescription system, handle acute prescription requests and perform medicines reconciliation during transfers of care.
* Implement systems for safer prescribing and provide expert clinical guidance on medicines to address public and social care needs of patients.
* Take a leading role in medicines optimisation and quality improvement, overseeing aspects of the Quality and Outcomes Framework and enhanced services.
* Work within a multidisciplinary primary care team and act as a conduit of patient medicines information to York & Scarborough Teaching hospitals.
Qualifications
Essential
* GPhC registered pharmacist.
* Enrolled in, or qualified from, an approved 18-month training pathway or equivalent that enables practice and safe prescribing in a primary care setting (e.g., CPPE clinical pharmacist pathways).
* Ability to deliver key responsibilities outlined in the Network Contract Directed Enhanced Service 2024-25 specification (advisable).
Experience
* An appreciation of the nature of GPs and general practice.
* An understanding of primary care prescribing, rational prescribing concepts, and strategies to improve prescribing.
* Experience with common acute and chronic conditions seen in general practice.
* Awareness of the NHS landscape, including relationships between practices, PCNs and commissioners.
Desirable
* Interest in improving polypharmacy outcomes.
* Minimum of two years working as a pharmacist in a practice portfolio.
* Experience of using SystmOne.

* Salary: £42,000 to £50,000 per year

About Us
Front Street Surgery has been open for over 40 years with approximately 8,500 patients. Our main branch is in Acomb with a satellite in Copmanthorpe. The post holder will work from both sites. We are a friendly, supportive team led by four partners and a multi-skilled clinical team including GPs, practice nurses, HCAs, phlebotomist, PCN physiotherapist and a mental health practitioner. We welcome students and registrars as a HYMS teaching practice.
