Overview
We are seeking highly motivated and innovative practitioners to train as Health Visitors and deliver great service to children and families across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The role offers the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge in real‑world practice during a placement period under a Practice Supervisor/Practice Teacher/Community Practice Assessor.
Responsibilities
* Take full advantage of the opportunities offered whilst in a practice placement to underpin the theoretical knowledge gained in the educational setting.
* Seek out additional learning opportunities available in the community under the guidance of the Practice Supervisor, Practice Teacher or Community Practice Assessor.
* Take responsibility for identifying own learning needs and seek help at the earliest opportunity if learning support is required.
* Demonstrate the achievement of competencies necessary to practice as a Student SCPHN by completion of the Practice Assessment Document.
* Study for and achieve the PgDip in Specialist Community Public Health Nursing.
* Work as a Student SCPHN within the community as a member of a Health Visiting/School Nurse 0‑19 Team as appropriate.
* Work under the guidance of a Practice Teacher, Community Practice Assessor and/or Practice Supervisor.
* Work with the academic tutor responsible for overseeing progress and engage in the use of web‑based learning facilities provided by the University.
* Attend regular supervisory meetings to reflect on practice.
* Attend practice placement on days designated by the university (including confirmation of practice).
Qualifications
* Minimum of a 2:2 honours degree (or equivalent).
* Diploma in Education or a bachelor's degree with a lower grade may be considered via the University of Surrey Advanced Standing process.
* Current NMC registration.
* Full driving licence, business car insurance and vehicle use.
* Subject to occupational health clearance and an enhanced DBS check.
Benefits
* Salary range: £32,073 to £39,043 per year. For part‑time hours the salary will be pro‑rated.
