Morrison Water Services Ltd are currently looking to recruit a Project Manager. Working on our Scottish Water DV2 Framework working across a wide portfolio of projects. The role is based in our Stepps, Glasgow office reporting to the MWS Delivery Manager and will involve travel to sites as required.
The UK’s largest provider of essential infrastructure services through long-term framework agreements to the electricity, water, and gas sectors across the UK & Ireland.
Morrison Water Services is the largest division within MGS and works across the UK delivering water, wastewater, infrastructure, and non-infrastructure projects for a large proportion of the UK water industry.
The MWS Scotland region currently delivers a number of frameworks for Scottish Water including the Infrastructure Capital programme and the MEICA replacement operational alliance DV2 Lot 4 (this role). In addition, IDS deliver further specialist frameworks for Scottish Water as well for a portfolio of non-regulated clients. The business is currently at c. £130m p.a with further growth planned.
The DV2 Lot 4 MEICA replacement framework is a 6-year programme (2021-2027) with an option to extend for a further 6 years. The contract delivers a diverse range of design & construction projects (£100k - £4m) including the replacement of MEICA equipment, associated civil engineering works, specialist control & automation, SCADA and telemetry works. Annual volume £25m-£40m.
The Project Manager will be responsible for safe delivery of their Projects whilst achieving commercial expectations. A key part of the role will be establishing a strong relationship with Scottish Water, both at Project level and within the Framework.
You will be a key part of the MWS Management Teams, be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of Framework and support on key issues as they evolve.
This new position is a Scottish based role.
As the Systems Project Manager your duties and responsibilities will include:
1. Working within a multi-disciplinary team on projects, primarily in water & waste water. Managing a number of projects focussing on MCC/PLC and SCADA upgrades and migrations
2. Accountable for MCC/SCADA/PLC project delivery and managing the project team.
3. Accountable for MCC/SCADA/PLC project margins (gross)
4. Participate in collaboration meetings with other engineering disciplines and professionals.
5. Review of contracts & specifications.
6. Procurement and support for subcontract procurement based on detailed specifications.
7. Record and review all project information.
8. Continual professional development including professional registration is encouraged and actively supported.
9. Work closely with the PMO team to ensure delivery programmes are in place and progress is monitored.
10. Drive Risk management for the Projects.
11. Provide leadership and guidance on technical and contractual matters to ensure timely resolution.
12. Preparing progress reports for the MWS senior leadership team
13. Develops lasting relationships with client personnel that foster client ties and support the long term MWS business plan.
14. Communicates effectively with clients to identify needs and evaluate alternative technical solutions.
Skills & Knowledge requirements:
15. Experience in water industry would be advantageous with the ideal candidate having a background in MCC/SCADA installations
16. Computer literate with a good understanding of appropriate software packages
17. Knowledge and skills in the in the planning, specification, design procurement and commissioning of projects
18. A good financial background in relation to projects
19. A good Knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts
20. Possess sound knowledge of current legislation and able to work in accordance with QA and H&S procedures
21. Able to integrate well into a team as well as work independently
22. Experienced level of decision making and ability to prioritise and manage conflicting demands
23. Strong communication skills all levels with the client, suppliers, contractors and design team
24. Excellent written and oral communications skills
25. Exceptional organisational skills
26. Must be able to plan and prioritise work load effectively
