Hays HR is delighted to be supporting a new client located in the North East on the recruitment of a Head of HR to join their organisation in a permanent position. You can be located in the North West or the North East, working in a hybrid role.
The organisation is going through a growth period over the next 5 years, where you will support the organisation to deliver its business and growth objectives. You will provide strategic leadership across people, culture and learning & development. This role focuses on building a high-performing, values-led organisation through strong workforce planning, leadership development and a clear learning and development framework.
Your new role
1. Lead and support team members within the HR function, managing objectives, workloads and development, and promoting a proactive, collaborative culture.
2. Drive the People Strategy, embedding a positive, inclusive and high‑performing culture.
3. Oversee employee engagement, wellbeing and EDI activity, acting as a trusted adviser to senior leaders.
4. Develop and implement the Learning & Development strategy, manage performance and development frameworks and identify future capability needs.
5. Lead leadership and management development, support early‑career pathways and manage L&D priorities and budgets.
6. Hold full accountability for L&D and recruitment budgets to ensure alignment with workforce priorities.
7. Lead workforce planning, succession planning and organisational design with senior directors, supporting recruitment and senior hiring.
8. Ensure people's policies and practices arepliant, manage people‑related risk and support audits and accreditations.
9. Provide strategic input at Board and Director level, collaborate with BD, Operations and Finance, and represent the people agenda internally and externally.
10. Chair quarterly capability reviews to assess skills gaps, succession risks and critical roles.
What you'll need to succeed
11. Experience in a senior HR or L&D position previously
12. Demonstrate developing and delivering people strategies
13. Ability to influence and build strong relationships with key stakeholders
14. Up-to-date knowledge of employment law
15. Experience embedding culture, values, EDI and engagement initiatives.
16. Experience supporting or leading change and transformation activity.
17. Experience within a professional services or consultancy environment.
18. CIPD Level 7 or equivalent qualification, or significant senior level experience.
