Deputy Manager – Children and Young People South Wales
Up to £31,908.60pa and £50 sleep in per night

Brook Street Social Care are looking for a Deputy Manager that will provide essential support to the Registered Manager to ensure the smooth operation of the 4 bed children’s home in South Wales. This includes delivering high-quality care to young people in accordance with their care plans, as well as the organisation's policies and procedures. The Deputy Manager will act as the lead in the Registered Manager’s absence.

Duties:

~ Support to the Registered Manager : Act as the designated person in charge during the Registered Manager’s absence. Oversee compliance, staffing, administration, health and safety, and financial matters when required.

Take delegated responsibility for specific operational areas as assigned by the Manager.

Compliance: Ensure the home adheres to all child protection laws and regulatory requirements. Supervise staff to maintain legal and regulatory compliance, including Regulation 32. Engage with relevant regulatory and inspection bodies when necessary. Uphold and promote the company’s standards at all times.
Staff Management: Provide strong leadership and direction to the home care staff. Lead and manage staff teams, especially when on shift. Allocate duties and communicate expectations clearly. Conduct staff supervision, identify training needs, and support professional development. Support recruitment, on boarding, and staff retention efforts.
Child development: Ensure the delivery of tailored care in line with each young person’s care plan. Monitor progress and well-being to support positive developmental outcomes.
Financial Oversight: Support the preparation and monitoring of the home’s budget. Manage purchasing and monitor spending, including young people’s allowances. Ensure cost control practices are consistently applied.
Administration: Assist in generating reports and maintaining accurate documentation. Track incidents, significant events, and staff working hours. Maintain home logs and ensure timely communication of information.
Health & Safety: Promote a safe and healthy environment for all residents, staff, and visitors. Advise staff on health and safety practices and monitor adherence. Report incidents and create improvement plans where needed. Write risk assessments and ensure best practices are followed.

Qualifications & Experience
NVQ Level 3 / QCF Level 3 in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People)
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a supervisory role within a residential care setting for young people

Ability to work under pressure and respond to changing circumstances
Proficiency in report writing and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Knowledge & Training Requirements
In-depth understanding of child protection legislation and care regulations
Familiarity with health and safety best practices, including IOSH training
Continuous development in care standards and regulatory compliance
