We are seeking a passionate Art Teacher to join our creative faculty. This role involves teaching across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with potential for A-Level Fine Art or Graphic Communication. You will be responsible for nurturing the next generation of creatives, encouraging them to find their unique artistic voice while mastering a wide range of technical disciplines. The Department You will work in a suite of light-filled, specialist studios equipped for drawing, painting, printmaking, and ceramics, including an on-site kiln and darkroom facilities. The department is well-resourced with digital tablets and industry-standard creative software (Adobe Creative Suite), allowing for the seamless integration of traditional and digital media. We prioritize a "Process-Led" curriculum, where the journey of exploration in a sketchbook is valued as highly as the final outcome. We benefit from strong links with the Hereford College of Arts and local galleries, providing students with regular opportunities for workshops, exhibition visits, and professional portfolio reviews. Core Responsibilities Delivering high-quality practical lessons that introduce students to a broad spectrum of media, including oil and acrylic painting, relief printing, sculpture, and mixed media. Teaching the formal elements of art—line, tone, colour, texture, and form—ensuring students have a robust technical foundation. Preparing Year 11 and Year 13 students for GCSE and A-Level assessments, focusing on the four assessment objectives: Develop, Explore, Record, and Present. Curating and organizing internal exhibitions to celebrate student work and raise the profile of the Arts within the wider school community. Leading extracurricular "Open Studio" sessions, allowing students to pursue independent projects and develop their personal portfolios for higher education applications. The Successful Candidate We are looking for a practicing artist and educator who leads with creativity and technical expertise. Requirements include: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Fine Art, Illustration, Design, or a related creative field. A proven ability to inspire students of all abilities, fostering a classroom environment where students feel safe to experiment and take creative risks. Strong subject knowledge of art history and contemporary practice, with the ability to help students contextualize their own work. Excellent organizational skills to manage the logistics of studio materials, specialized equipment, and exhibition deadlines. Why Join Us?
