The Role
Due to continued growth, Briggs & Forrester Engineering Services is seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our Midlands team based in our Coleshill Office, Birmingham. What You’ll Be Doing
As a senior member of the team, you’ll:
1. Take a leading role in the tender process, ensuring deadlines are achieved and estimating duties are provided to the highest standard
2. Produce detailed and accurate tender bids and cost plans
3. Review and fully interpret tender documentation including Prelims, T&Cs, BREEAM, Fire Strategy, Acoustics, BIM and more
4. Attend, present and chair internal and external meetings, and take a proactive role within the team
5. Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients
6. Collaborate closely with subcontractors and suppliers — leveraging established partners while identifying and developing new leads
7. Ensure M&E abnormals are captured across both disciplines
8. Agree strategies for named specialists and ‘equal’ alternatives within specifications
9. Ensure submissions are accurate, competitive and aligned with project requirements
Requirements
10. Comprehensive technical knowledge across all aspects of Mechanical Building Services
11. The ability to review, challenge and develop tender design information and strategies to provide best value to our clients
12. Strong estimating experience and possess a thorough understanding of project costing strategies
13. Confidence to lead discussions and influence stakeholders at all levels
14. A proactive, solutions-focused mindset
15. The ability to work collaboratively while promoting a positive and supportive team culture
16. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
