Role
An inclusive and diverse Specialist School is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to help support and encourage children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs through the school day. The pupils have a variety of difficulties, including but not limited to anxiety, learning difficulties, trauma, ASD, ADHD, OCD and behavioural challenges. The perfect candidate will therefore be proactive, understanding and ready for a challenge.
Responsibilities
* Support and shadow the class teacher, providing 1:1 and small group support to the SEN students.
* Help run engaging lessons to make the classroom a fun, engaging and safe place.
* Behavioural management, personal care and emotional support may also be required where necessary.
* Work alongside the Psychologist and Therapist based on-site at the school.
Details
The role is full-time starting ASAP but the school have said they can be flexible if the perfect candidate came along. Graduates who have qualified in Psychology, Criminology or Health & Social Care would be perfect for this - a general understanding of welfare and mental health would be beneficial. This is also a unique opportunity to work alongside the Psychologist and Therapist based on-site at the school.
