Trainee Project Engineer
Location: Office-based – Great Gransden (with occasional UK and international travel)

An established and growing manufacturer of specialist equipment for the food production industry is seeking a Trainee Project Engineer to join their expanding Projects Team. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual looking to develop their skills within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You’ll be part of a supportive and experienced team, gaining hands-on experience in delivering engineering projects from start to finish — from initial scope and planning through to installation and customer handover.
The Job
As a Trainee Project Engineer, you’ll work closely with senior project engineers to support and deliver engineering projects. Your responsibilities will include:
Assisting in the development of project scope with sales and engineering teams
Helping to create and update project schedules (e.g., Gantt charts)
Preparing technical documentation, including layout drawings, BOMs, and specifications
Supporting the sourcing and specification of equipment and components
Coordinating equipment delivery, logistics, and site installation plans
Assisting with Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
Preparing export documentation and Risk Assessments & Method Statements (RAMS)
Supporting customer training and documentation handover
Gaining insight into project budgets and cost monitoring
The Person
We’re looking for someone with a genuine interest in engineering and a desire to learn and grow in a project-focused role.
Essential:
Strong interest in engineering and technical project work
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Proactive attitude and a willingness to learn
Good organisation and attention to detail
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Desirable:
Familiarity with MS Project or AutoCAD
Basic knowledge of mechanical or electrical engineering principles
Full UK driving licence or intention to obtain one
Willingness to travel (including overnight and international trips as needed)
