Patient and staff experience is important to us and these are the behaviours we live by: Putting patients first Aiming to get it right Recognising that everybody counts Doing everything openly and honestly ‘Prior consideration will be given to NHS At Risk staff within East of England' Job overview About the Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and passionate Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a) to join the Paediatric Community Neurodevelopmental Assessment Team at James Paget Hospital. We are a specialist multi-disciplinary team, who are passionate about developing services and completing high quality and clinically rigorous assessments. We cover the Great Yarmouth and Waveney area. You will play a key role in our newly launched Neurodevelopmental (NDD) pathways, offering assessment, formulation, diagnosis and advice for children and young people with neurodiverse presentations, including Autism, ADHD, and associated developmental needs. If you are passionate about improving the lives of neurodiverse children and their families and want to be part of an ambitious and developing service, we would love to hear from you. This post could either be appointed as a Band 7 preceptorship working towards an 8a position, or at an 8a depending upon skills and experience. Responsibilities and supervision will be adjusted accordingly. The post is funded for 30 hours (4 days) but there is a 7.5 (1 day) post available providing psychological input on the Neonatal ward in the James Paget Hospital that could be joined together with this post, providing a varied role and bringing the post to full time. Advert What You’ll Be Doing · Completing specialist neuropsychological assessments as part of multi-disciplinary NDD diagnostic pathways. · Conducting structured observations, developmental history interviews, neurodevelopmental assessments and delivering feedback to families for more complex cases where differential assessment is required. · Contribute expert formulation as part of MDT case discussion to support accurate, compassionate, timely diagnoses. · Work closely with paediatricians, speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, and education partners. · Provide consultation, supervision and psychological input across the neurodevelopmental pathway. · Support pathway development, quality improvement and evidence-based practice as the service grows. · Work collaboratively with families, listening to their experiences and advocating for their needs. Detailed job description and main responsibilities About You We are looking for a psychologist who: · Is HCPC-registered and qualified in clinical psychology. · Has experience working with children, young people and neurodiverse presentations. · Has a good working knowledge of the diagnostic assessment process for Autism and ADHD and the importance of differential diagnoses as part of these assessments. · Has experience in conducting a range of standardised assessments, and it would be desirable if this included specialist neurodevelopmental assessments. · Brings strong skills in complex formulation, identifying strengths and needs of young people. · Confidence in sensitively providing comprehensive feedback to families. · Values teamwork, compassionate practice and family-centred care. · Is committed to service improvement and shaping new models of care.
