The adult social care vision in Hull is of "a life not a service". Adult social care is person‑centred and focuses on the individuals strengths to support people to take control of improving their own health, resilience and wellbeing. Responsibilities
1. Promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
2. Uphold statutory obligations, carrying out duties in accordance with national minimum standards of care issued by relevant bodies such as the Care Quality Commission (CQC), and provide direct support, guidance, supervision and care that meets the persons assessed needs as per their support plan.
3. Develop and implement risk assessments for individuals, including moving and handling, and direct staff on safe methods of transfer that comply with current legislation and preserve dignity.
4. Set up provisions, complete initial paperwork and consent to care tasks, liaise with the person, families and carers, and lead transitions into the service.
5. Oversee and monitor completion of care and support plans, including monthly summaries, and consult with others to make necessary changes.
6. Direct, support and lead Care Workers in the provision of residential services, ensuring physical and emotional needs are met while promoting person‑centred approaches, dignity, privacy and choice. Tasks include personal care such as continence care, washing, dressing, oral hygiene, assistance with eating and drinking, PEG feeding, postural management, catheter and stoma care, and prescribed diets.
7. Ensure safe administration of medication, supervising staff, conducting spot checks, audits and training, and maintain accurate medication records.
8. Lead support of people with behaviours of concern in line with care plans, legislation, physical intervention training, good practice guidance and least restrictive principles.
9. Hold staff briefings, delegate tasks, manage daily handovers, allocate, organise and prioritise work, and support Activity Organisers to develop programmes.
10. Develop and maintain effective communication with health and social care colleagues, carers and families, make referrals where appropriate, and coordinate multidisciplinary meetings and reports.
11. Facilitate person‑centred reviews and behaviour support plans, and plan and implement inclusive activity programmes, outings and cultural enrichment opportunities.
12. Organise and assist people to control financial matters, conduct regular audits and decisions in accordance with financial regulations and the Mental Capacity Act.
13. Complete formal supervision of Personnel, manage day‑to‑day administration, report repairs, health and safety concerns, statistical returns, and support investigations into medication errors and code of conduct issues.
14. Provide staff development through PGPR, training, apprenticeships and diplomas and champion a positive learning environment.
15. Maintain health and safety responsibilities in line with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and Hull City Council’s policies.
Compensation
Pay ranges: £30,518.00 – £33,143.00. Grades: GRADES 6 SS+ 2 INC.
