Offer description

The UK Government has put in place a brand new programme to help people who are in crisis to access support as quickly as possible as well as taking the opportunity to build resilience within our communities. The Crisis and Triage Officer is a new role which is at the heart of supporting people coming to the council and seeking help. If you are passionate about supporting people and want to make a difference, this is your opportunity. As the role is shared with Chorley Council, you will be working in a team that is connecting different council departments as well as partners across the two boroughs, making sure people get the support and help they need.


Responsibilities

* Speaking directly with residents and supporting them through their applications for crisis support
* Helping residents and households to connect with other services that can support them
* Making decisions on providing financial support to people in crisis; the role requires travel around the boroughs and a valid driving licence or equivalent mobility
* Coordinating DBS checks for successful applicants (to be applied and paid for by the Council)

Requirements

* Empathy and compassion for those experiencing a crisis, and ability to understand a household’s lived experience
* Confidence in speaking with residents over the phone or face to face when required
* Ability to manage case work efficiently and meet the needs of residents
* Commitment to represent the council and provide excellent customer service
* Valid driving licence or equivalent mobility to travel between workplaces
