Non-Medical Prescriber

We are looking to appoint a confident, dynamic and committed NMP who will have proven experience and skill for managing a caseload of service users currently receiving treatment. The successful candidate will take a lead on independently prescribing from a formula of medications in accordance to the 'protocol for Non-Medical Prescribing within LSCFT Memory Assessment Services' and will ensure they participate and undertake an annual scope of practice declaration.
Other requirements for the role include:
* To participate in the clinical supervision process existing within the team and to deliver supervision and guidance to colleagues involved in monitoring treatments.
* To participate in auditing the team's prescribing practices and promote best practice with prescribing in accordance with NICE guidance.
* To participate in Trust wide NMP meetings and the MAS best practice group to share knowledge and maintain competency.
* As a Band 7, the successful candidate will support investigations and managing complaints.
* To be able to demonstrate an approach which is aligned with the Trust values. They will be innovative, proactive and be able to work autonomously, with enthusiasm and a "can do" attitude to support the service achieve its vision.
Main duties of the job
The specialist clinical role involves undertaking assessment of individuals referred to the Memory Assessment Service and the screening and subsequent monitoring of individuals undergoing treatment for their dementia. This includes working as a Non-Medical prescriber. The role involves working in a wide range of community settings and clinics, and being closely involved with the individuals and their carers to provide specialist advice, education and support. Where the post holder is a Non-Medical prescriber (NMP), they must practice responsibly and maintain competence to effectively prescribe from the relevant prescribing formulary. Non- Medical prescribing (NMP) practice is defined by current strategy, policy and protocol for NMP within LSCFT.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent in Registered Nurse RGN/RMN qualification
* Masters module/post grad qualification in relevant field of clinical expertise (or working towards) / post-grad qualification/equivalent knowledge & experience to Masters level
* Evidence of CPD in related field of clinical expertise
Knowledge
* Knowledge and appreciation of lone working risks - policy and procedure
* Understanding of clinical governance framework and implications for practice including audit and research governance
* In-depth understanding of current NHS/government policy/Public Health/NICE guidelines on organisational change and the ability to adapt these appropriately to local service needs through publication of documents
Experience
* Multi-disciplinary/multi-agency collaborative working
* Demonstrable evidence of improving and developing service and practice
* Supervision and/or mentoring of staff/students
Skills
* Ability to communicate highly complex pathologies and diagnostic reasoning to all levels in the medical and Non-Medical field at the appropriate level
* Sound knowledge of psycho-social problems and ability to gain patient confidence and co-operations
* Able to work independently as lead specialist, demonstrating good leadership skills and expertise
