About the Role
Base Location: Reading, Havant, Glasgow, Perth or Aberdeen
Salary: £53,100 - £79,700 + performance-related bonus and a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing, and family.
Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | options available
Within the central CTO organisation, you will be part of the Enterprise Architecture team that faces the business unit. This enables close cooperation with business unit stakeholders and allows the successful candidate to align with central teams defining the technology strategy for SSE Group.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Contributing to strategic planning to align technology investment with business strategies.
2. Managing the portfolio of application and technology services to support risk, cost, and quality management.
3. Defining & assuring principles, standards, and guardrails to align the organisation with strategic direction and best practices.
4. Assessing new demands & opportunities to inform prioritisation based on strategic alignment, promoting reuse of solutions, and adherence to technology standards.
5. Researching, prototyping, and showcasing innovations.
What do I need?
We would love you to have:
* Ability to work in environments undergoing change, using an iterative and adaptive approach.
* Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation, influencing, and negotiation with stakeholders up to C-level.
* Relevant or transferable skills and experience in corporate environments.
* Experience in business, application, data, and technology architecture is advantageous.
* The ability to quickly understand new technologies, assess their suitability to the business context, and estimate their financial impact.
