RangerThe Sherborne Estate is an amazing place with a diverse range of habitats and features. The estate has a rich history, and you will experience this through the landscape, the communities and the built environment. From Grade I and II listed parkland and buildings, to woodland, rivers and wetlands, there's a lot to get excited about. That's why our team is so motivated and enthusiastic. Currently, we’re halfway through what is potentially Europe’s largest historic landscape restoration project and several other habitat restoration projects, including woodland and wetland. This is a wonderful opportunity to be at the forefront of our tree planting and woodland management ambitions and a really fulfilling role for someone keen to develop their skills, interests and experience to make a positive difference, not just to the Sherborne Estate but to our planet through our effort to capture carbon and mitigate against climate change. Your enthusiasm, pace and passion for your work will shine through in all you do. You'll have a passion for wildlife and conservation, especially trees and woodlands. You’ll be able to deliver quality engagement, build positive relationships and always work safely and in line with compliance. You’ll work closely with the ranger team and ensure that high standards of presentation are upheld. You will play a lead role in the physical delivery of an exciting landscape restoration project focussing on tree planting in the Grade I-listed Lodge Park to a plan produced by Charles Bridgeman in 1725. You’ll help to manage the existing trees through a programme of maintenance work, including tree safety inspections, as well as being the key role for trees, woodland and hedgerows across the estate. You’ll take pride in delivering benefits for nature and climate and helping the National Trust realise its ambition to plant 20 million trees by 2030.Part of the role is communicating the great work we do to visitors, communities and funders so you’ll contribute to our interpretation and engagement activities too. You’ll deliver across all these areas through working with contractors and volunteers as well as fostering great relationships with tenant farmers. Joining a team of four Rangers you will ensure excellent standards of care, presentation and conservation work across a beautiful and nature-rich estate.
