Barker Ross is a £50m recruitment business supplying industrial, warehouse, food manufacturing and construction staff across the UK. Were serious about using AI and automation to make life easier for our consultants and better for our clients and this role sits right at the heart of that. The role Youll be the in-house AI & automation go-to owning, improving and expanding how we use AI across the business. Typical responsibilities will include: Designing and building AI-powered workflows to save time for sales, ops and back-office teams Creating and maintaining automations between our CRM, job boards, marketing tools and reporting systems Developing prompts, templates and tools to help consultants write better adverts, emails and messages faster Working with the MD and leadership team to identify process bottlenecks and turn them into automated solutions Supporting reporting and dashboards (e.g. Power BI / Excel) to give management real-time visibility of performance Testing, documenting and rolling out new tools and processes Training non-technical users on how to use AI tools safely and effectively Staying on top of new AI features and making sensible recommendations on what we should adopt next Youll be picking up a live environment with existing tools and workflows, not starting from zero but theres plenty of room to improve, standardise and innovate. About you Were flexible on exact background, but youll likely have: Hands-on experience with AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or similar) in a business context Experience with automation / integration tools (e.g. Power Automate, Zapier, Make, or similar) Strong skills in Excel and ideally some experience with Power BI or other dashboard tools A practical understanding of APIs, webhooks or integrations (you dont need to be a full developer) The ability to translate this is painful/slow from a recruiter into a simple, robust workflow Clear communication skills youre comfortable training and supporting people who arent techy A curious, problem-solving mindset you like measuring impact and improving things Experience in recruitment, staffing or a similarly fast-paced, high-volume environment would be a bonus, but isnt essential.
