Clinical Nurse Specialist

The Adult ADHD service at Cheshire and Wirral Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic full‑time Band 7 Clinical Specialist Nurse to plan and deliver nurse‑led Adult ADHD clinics and interventions. Responsibilities include prescribing and monitoring medication under the supervision of medical staff and assessment and diagnosis of ADHD in adults.
Shortlisting will commence 13 November.
Main duties of the job
* Autonomously operate nurse‑led clinics, assess and treat patients, and refer appropriately to other healthcare professionals or services.
* Routinely undertake independent and supplementary nurse prescribing.
* Manage the healthcare of complex/vulnerable individuals within the Adult ADHD Service.
* Screen patients for risk factors and early signs of illness.
* Overall responsibility for assessment planning, development, implementation and evaluation of individual care programmes.
* Assist in developing assessment tools, training packs and pathways in accordance with NICE guidance.
* Comply with HSC 2000/026, Patient Group Directions and the NMC Code of Conduct to prescribe locally agreed treatments with established protocols.
* Offer supervision and reflective practice within the multi‑disciplinary team.
* Set, monitor and evaluate standards of practice to ensure quality and effective governance.
* Apply research‑based nursing practice, critical appraisal skills and underpin clinical governance and best practice.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification
* Nurse Prescribing Qualification (or completed within 12 months of appointment)
* Evidence of ongoing training and development
* Post‑graduate training in Mental Health
* Management certificate/qualification
* ECDL (European Computer Driving Licence) or equivalent
Knowledge and Expertise
* Understanding of issues relating to ADHD, local and national guidance
* Understanding of interventions for ADHD and models of good practice
* Understanding of Clinical Governance in relation to service delivery
* Effective written and oral communication and liaison skills
* Effective organisation and management skills
* Knowledge of NHS and Social Services frameworks
* Presentation skills and ability to deliver training
* Understanding of performance management and ability to develop monitoring systems
Experience
* Experience of clinical work within Mental Health
* Substantial experience at Band 6 or above
* Worked independently and as part of a team
* Staff management and supervision experience
* Some experience as a nurse prescriber
* Organisation and delivery of education and training
* Experience within ADHD services (child or adult)
