Apple Orchard has five homes in Surrey and West Sussex, each set in a rural location, offering a comfortable, homely environment for young males aged 12-18 years. We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Psychologist to join our Therapy team, specializing in assessment and intervention for adolescent males who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour.
Our goal is to help young people develop insight into their experiences, enabling them to move on from their often traumatic past. We support them in making sense of their lives through clear boundaries and achievable goals, utilizing positive reinforcement strategies such as reward charts and free time.
Central to our work is providing a nurturing environment that meets all the basic needs of the young person to the highest standard. This includes creating a warm, friendly atmosphere that emphasizes building supportive relationships and positive attachments.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Knowledge of processing and interpreting cognitive and personality assessments under the supervision of a Forensic Psychologist.
* Extensive administrative skills to support recording all work undertaken with the young males.
* Ability to provide feedback to young people, therapists, and staff as required.
* Inputting data, conducting analysis and research, and preparing case summaries and background reports.
* Hold a BSc degree in Psychology, or an MSc, or be working towards an MSc; or have had specific Psychometric training.
Must be registered with either BPS or HCPC.
* Willingness to engage young people in various activities and support them throughout their time at Apple Orchard and their therapeutic journey.
* Ability to challenge unacceptable behaviour, establish firm boundaries, and provide care tailored to individual needs.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Follow delegated tasks and handovers.
* Maintain policies and procedures.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to produce well-written reports.
* Strong listening and engagement skills.
* Experience working with teenage boys or challenging behaviour is desirable, along with a willingness to develop further skills.
* Access to travel due to the rural location; a driving licence is desirable but not essential.
Benefits include:
* Company pension
* Access to our Exchange Employee Discount Scheme
* Wellbeing programmes via our Exchange Provision
* Promotion opportunities
* Fully funded training for recognized qualifications
If you believe your skills can support our caring and stimulating environment, providing opportunities and life experiences for young people, we look forward to hearing from you.
