About the role
As an Education Support Worker, you will work closely with students aged 11–16 who may require additional support with behaviour, emotional wellbeing, or accessing learning in the classroom.
You will assist students on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, helping them to stay engaged in lessons, manage their emotions, and build positive relationships with peers and staff. This role is ideal for someone who wants to make a real impact in the lives of young people and support their development both academically and personally.
About the school
The school is a welcoming and inclusive mainstream secondary school with a strong commitment to pastoral care. Staff work collaboratively to ensure every student is supported to reach their potential, regardless of their background or personal challenges.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
There is potential for the position to become permanent following a successful trial period.
Requirements
To be considered for the role of Education Support Worker, you will:
1. Be patient, understanding, and resilient
2. Demonstrate a genuine interest in supporting young people’s wellbeing and development
3. Be confident in working with students who may display low-level disruptive behaviour or face barriers to learning
4. Ideally have experience in an education, care, or youth work setting
5. A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
You must also be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check (registered on the Update Service or willing to apply) and provide full referencing.
