CNC Programmer/Operator, West Bromwich, £40.5k
The CNC Engineer (programmer/operator) role involves supporting the Toolroom in manufacturing spares/modifications for a variety of Press Tools. The candidate will be responsible for programming and operating 2 Hurco CNC machining centers and 1 Charmilles EDM machine. They should also understand and use Vero 3D CAD/CAM software. Additionally, the role supports production CNC machining centers and aims to improve OEE, supporting CNC setters. This position suits a CNC machinist with experience in a production environment producing batch parts and knowledge of Press tool manufacture.
Job Accountabilities:
1. Reliability and punctuality are essential for the efficient operation of the department.
2. Operate CNC machines daily, produce items per CAD drawings, and update drawings/files as needed.
3. Maximize machine utilization and leave instructions for the next shift.
4. Plan workload with the Toolroom Manager on a job-by-job basis.
5. Coordinate with Toolmakers and support where necessary.
6. Assist in spares or breakdown issues to maintain production flow, possibly working beyond shift hours.
7. Report faults or mistakes in jobs to relevant staff or the Engineering Director.
8. Work extra hours if required to cover absences.
9. Provide training to apprentices placed under your care.
10. Support production issues on CNC machining cells and train operators.
11. Assist Robot Engineers on production CNC centers if needed.
12. Maintain cleanliness and proper waste disposal in the area.
13. Ensure PPE compliance and report safety hazards, adhering to health and safety policies.
14. Communicate effectively within and outside the organization via various channels.
Job Context:
Support toolmaking for new tooling and spares, and support production CNC machines. Working hours are 7.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 7.30am to 12.30pm on Friday. Benefits include competitive pay and a pension scheme.

Qualifications / Knowledge:
* Forklift license (advantageous but not essential).
* Lifting and Slinging Qualifications.
* Grinding wheel safety regulations.
* Knowledge of Visi CAD system (advantageous).
* Experience with EDM Machining.
* City and Guilds or NVQ in Setting and Programming.
* Knowledge of Press Tooling and batch CNC machining.
