About Us
Lanterns Nursery School is a Hampshire maintained nursery offering high-quality early education and care for children aged 8 months to 5 years. We are proud to host 36 resourced places for children with SEND, supported by a dedicated and experienced team. Our inclusive ethos, neuro-affirming approach, and strong partnerships with families and professionals make Lanterns a truly special place to work and learn.
The Role
As Assistant SENDCo, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and delivering outstanding SEND provision across the school. Working closely with the Headteacher and SENDCo, you will:
* Champion neuro-affirming practice and lead its integration across the school.
* Support staff in delivering high-quality teaching and interventions.
* Lead SEND-focused training, coaching, and induction for staff.
* Build strong, supportive relationships with families, offering guidance and resources.
* Oversee SEND resources and ensure an accessible learning environment.
* Support EHC needs assessments and transition planning.
* Collaborate with external professionals and contribute to whole-school development.
Who We're Looking For
We are seeking a compassionate, knowledgeable, and proactive practitioner who:
* Has experience working with children with SEND in the early years.
* Understands the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive pedagogy.
* Is confident in leading others and delivering training.
* Values partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams.
