Job overview Applications are invited for a Post CCT Fellow within the Head & Neck Oncology Service based within the ENT Directorate at Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield. This H&N service forms part of the South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw & North Derbyshire Cancer Alliance. The fellowship is for a fixed term of 12 months. This appointment will provide sub-specialist training in Head and Neck Surgery to a suitable candidate who has completed higher surgical training in ENT and who is also committed to a career in head and neck surgery. Applicants should be Post CCT or within 6 months of completion of Training (ST7 or equivalent) at the time of interview. The post does not award a National Training Number. This post is not recognised as a ‘training post’. Full registration with the GMC with a licence to practise is required. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop skills in diagnosis and treatment of UADT cancer and benign pathology, including transoral laser phonosurgery. The Sheffield ENT Directorate has particular expertise in the management of head and neck malignancy and in advanced techniques of reconstruction and rehabilitation following surgery. This service attracts many tertiary referrals from the served catchment area. The work is carried out in close liaison with Neurosurgery, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Oncologists. Sheffield is the main centre for Head & Neck Cancer, with a single MDT serving the North Trent area. General on-call responsibilities covering adults and children are included.
