NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is one of the largest healthcare systems in the United Kingdom, employing approximately 40,000 staff across a wide range of clinical and non‑clinical professions and roles. The role:

The school nursing service provides an open‑access service to families and communities across home, community, and primary care settings. The role promotes healthy lifestyles within the local population, with particular focus on identified HSCP health needs and priority groups such as school‑aged children, young people, and vulnerable families.


Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

Base location – Greenock Health Care Centre

Permanent, Full‑time

Shift Pattern – Monday‑Friday 9‑5


Key responsibilities:

* Deliver an open‑access school nursing service to families and communities.
* Promote healthy lifestyles and address local public health priorities.
* Focus on the needs of school‑aged children, young people, and vulnerable families.
* Work across home, community, and primary care settings.


Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:

* First‑level nursing registration.
* Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (School Nurse or Public Health Nurse) degree on the 3rd part of the NMC register.
* Evidence of ongoing post‑registration CPD.
* CPD, including essential CAMHS training and HEI modules supporting the refocused School Nursing role.
* Current driving licence.
* Knowledge of national and local public health initiatives.
* Knowledge of "Getting it Right for Every Child" and the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014.
* Knowledge of relevant SIGN guidelines and best‑practice statements.
* Understanding of national and local child protection guidelines.
* Experience working with children and young people.
