Main Duties of the Job
This post is part of the leadership team within the service and will provide appropriate support and supervision to other team members. The post holder will be part of a clinical team providing specialist psychiatric advice to the multidisciplinary team. There is the potential to support medical trainees and advanced clinical practitioners, who will be supervised by the consultant.
The post‑holder, together with other senior members of the CAMHS Team in Liskeard, will be responsible for ensuring effective communication with referring and receiving teams throughout the Trust and Primary care. Where appropriate the post‑holder will join therapy sessions in complex cases. Whilst primarily responsible for delivering a quality clinical service the Consultant psychiatrist is also expected to be actively involved in the strategic development of the team and broader services, being involved with the service manager in supporting the development of the service in line with the strategic direction of the organisation.
The successful candidate will develop a personal development plan for lifelong learning. New appointees also have the opportunity to undertake further qualification, research or participate in the transformation programme.
Experience
* CCT or equivalent in CAMHS
* Substantial experience managing a busy caseload of clients with a range of mental health problems
* Evidence of working within a community mental health setting
* Participation in user involvement in services
Skills and Aptitude
* Experience assessing and treating young patients and families in acute and community psychiatric settings, and ability to offer expert opinion on a range of problems in child and adolescent psychiatry
* Excellent clinical assessment skills
* Ability to manage risk
* Awareness of community structures and social care options and processes
* Understanding of recovery principles in mental health

Professional Requirements
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. The post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and will require a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
