Description
The investment team oversee Convex's $7.5bn+ investment portfolio. Whilst the day-to-day management is outsourced to several external investment managers, the investment team are responsible for managing the overall investment strategy, asset allocation and manager selection, alongside portfolio execution, balance sheet management and investment reporting.
Working alongside a team of experienced investment professionals, the role provides an overview of the front to back investment process and the opportunity to contribute to a wide range of investment team activities.
As you develop into the role, some of the key tasks may include...
Investment strategy and market insights
* Support research and analysis of new investment opportunities and support new manager due diligence
* Support investment decisions by developing and enhancing market dashboards and other tools and metrics
Portfolio management
* Assist in the monitoring of manager benchmarks and portfolio exposures
* Produce performance analysis and attribution and extract key insights
Governance and compliance
* Assist with new product approval reviews
* Support the resolution of investment compliance related issues such as breaches of manager guidelines
Investment Operations
* Work closely with Convex's accounting and reporting provider on various tasks such as the implementation of new accounts, custom data fields and other ad-hoc activities
* Provide support to the outsourced Investment Operations team as required
Reporting
* Assist in the production of internal investment reports, including insights on manager performance relative to peer benchmarks
* Assist in the production of regulatory or rating agency reporting and other ad-hoc reporting requests
* Assist with collating ESG metrics from external managers and producing internal ESG reports, as required
* Run various risk reporting and analysis, such as stress and scenario testing, using the stochastic risk system
Stakeholder management
* Interaction with counterparts in other key functional areas, such as Financial Market Risk and the wider Finance function
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
* Strong quantitative skills with practical application
* An ability to manage multiple tasks with a keen attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills, both orally and written
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
* A genuine interest in investments and financial markets
* A solid academic track record, ideally with a degree in economics, finance, actuarial science, engineering or mathematics
