Overview

The post holder will work closely with three Gynaecological Oncologists and two Clinical Nurse Specialists. The role is to develop into a confident and experienced Gynaecological Oncologist by the end of 2–3 years of training.

We have a robust surgical service for women with advanced ovarian cancer and perform radical surgery with minimal morbidity. A minimal invasive surgical service is run using laparoscopy and robotics for the treatment of endometrial cancer.

The trainee will have the opportunity to participate in the department\'s colposcopy service and aim to achieve BSCCP Colposcopy Accreditation. The post-holder is expected to actively participate in the Gynecological MDT, clinics and audit programmes. All consultants are active in research and multicentre trials; the post holder is expected to achieve 2 peer-reviewed publications by the end of the training programme.

The successful candidate will be involved in all areas of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including an on-call commitment as first on call covering obstetrics and gynaecology at a reduced rate of 50% so on-calls do not interfere with daily clinical activities. All necessary curriculum modules related to this job can be completed on site.

Service Context

UHD is investing in, developing and transforming Trust services in line with the New Hospital Programme. Some services may move sites this year or next, either temporarily or permanently. Recruiting Managers will answer service-specific questions at interview.

Where a role or service relocates as part of a planned move, excess mileage will not be reimbursed. Travel from home to the new work base will be classed as a normal commute. Other changes will be managed under Trust or national terms and conditions.
