Health Visitor - Specialist Public Health Practitioner

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Specialist Public Health Practitioner (Health Visitor) to join our Integrated Healthy Families Team within the Bassetlaw Locality.

Bassetlaw Healthy Family Team, provide a quality service delivering the Healthy Child Programme to the local population. We are an integrated service, working with children and young people aged 0 - 19 and their families. Care will be delivered in line with the National and Local guidelines and public health priorities.


Main duties of the job

You will work as part of a team to deliver universal and targeted health services to the 0-19 year population and will be responsible for the day to day leadership of a defined caseload, managing and supporting a skill mix team.

You will be expected to develop excellent partnership working relationships in order to provide seamless services to Children, Young people and their families.

This post requires a knowledgeable practitioner with excellent communication skills and a desire to develop their leadership and management skills. You will possess the Specialist Community Public Health Nursing (Health Visitor) qualification.

Job responsibilities

The role will include services to antenatal women, completion of the Healthy Child Programme for under 5s, enhanced programmes of care within school and community settings for the 5 -19 age group, breast feeding support and a strong element of leadership to the skill mix 0-19 cluster team.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* 1 st level Registration with current NMC registration
* Registered Specialist Practitioner (Health Visitor / School Nurse)
* Non-medical prescribing V100 (Health Visitor)
* Evidence of further professional development


Experience

* Demonstrate Health Visiting / School Nursing practice
* Experience of working in multi-disciplinary team
* Experience of supervising junior staff.
* Experience of managing a team


Knowledge and Skills

* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current children & family health agenda
* Proven communications skills - written, oral & IT
* Interpersonal skills ? Problem solving ? Listening ? Negotiation ? Self-awareness ? Respectful Challenges
* Proven organisation skills: ? Time & Self-management ? Record keeping ? Caseload management ? Ability to prioritise own workload as well as others in the team
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
