We are seeking an experienced Freelance Health & Safety Manager or Coordinator to join a UK-based construction and built-environment organisation. This is a key office-based role, ideal for a proactive professional who is passionate about improving safety standards, influencing culture, and driving continuous improvement across construction activities and supply chains.
Day rate negotiable, they are also open to anything between 2 days and 5 days a week.
You will play a central role in shaping and embedding a positive health & safety culture, ensuring compliance, and supporting senior stakeholders with expert advice.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and continuously improve the organisation’s health, safety and wellbeing strategy.
* Develop, review and implement H&S policies, procedures and management systems.
* Provide professional H&S advice to senior leadership, internal teams and construction partners.
* Ensure full compliance with UK health & safety legislation, including CDM Regulations.
* Carry out audits, inspections and performance monitoring across office and construction environments.
* Investigate incidents, near misses and non-conformances, ensuring effective corrective actions.
* Promote best practice and a proactive safety culture throughout the business and supply chain.
* Deliver training, briefings and safety communications as required.
About You
* Proven experience in a Health & Safety management role within construction or the built environment.
* CMIOSH or IOSH-qualified (chartered status essential).
* Strong working knowledge of UK construction H&S legislation and best practice.
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels, including senior leaders and external partners.
* Highly organised, detail-focused and driven by a genuine passion for improving safety performance.
* Comfortable working in an office-based Nottingham role, with occasional site engagement
