Autism Support Assistant / SEND Teaching Assistant (Start September) Locations: Multiple opportunities across Bolton, Bury and Salford Salary: From £90 per day (term-time only) Start Date: September 2025 If you’re looking for a role where every day matters - where small moments mean everything - this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. We’re working with several outstanding specialist schools across Bolton, Bury and Salford, all looking for new Autism Support Assistants to join their teams this September. You’ll be part of a team supporting young people aged 11 to 16 with a range of complex needs. Some are autistic, some have severe learning difficulties, and many face challenges with communication, regulation, or simply feeling understood in the world around them. Your role won’t be about delivering lessons or ticking boxes - it’s about noticing what’s needed in the moment. That might mean helping a student transition calmly between lessons, using a visual aid to reduce anxiety, or just sitting quietly with someone who needs space. Some days will be full of small wins. Others might feel tough. But all of them will be meaningful. This role would suit people who are emotionally intelligent, calm under pressure and motivated by purpose rather than routine. Maybe you’ve worked with young people before - in youth work, care, sports coaching, or mental health. Maybe you’re a psychology graduate wanting hands-on experience before pursuing further training. Or maybe you have personal experience supporting someone with additional needs and want to bring that understanding into a school setting. What matters most is your ability to connect. To stay curious, compassionate and consistent. Transferable skills like active listening, problem-solving, flexibility, and even a sense of humour will serve you well here. In return, you’ll work in a school that genuinely values support staff, with access to specialist training and a team that will have your back. You’ll also be supported by your own consultant at Teaching Personnel, who’ll work closely with you throughout your placement. If you're looking for a role that challenges you, grounds you, and reminds you why people matter - we’d love to hear from you. Send us your CV today and we’ll be in touch to talk about the role, the schools, and what kind of environment will suit you best. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQ’s on the Teaching Personnel website for details. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date. Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
