Behaviour Support Assistant - SEMH School. Pay: £90 - £110 per day (depending on experience). Contract: Full-time, long-term (term-time only). Setting: SEMH School (Social, Emotional and Mental Health). Hours: 08:30–15:30, Monday to Friday. Start Date: November 2025.
About the Role
Education Network are recruiting for a passionate and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to work in a specialist SEMH school in North Tyneside. The school provides a supportive environment for children and young people with SEMH difficulties, helping them overcome barriers to learning and reach their potential. This is a long-term role with the potential to become permanent for the right person.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils with SEMH needs both in and outside the classroom
* Help manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour using positive and restorative approaches
* Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and personal growth
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
* Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and independence
Qualifications
* Experience working with young people with SEMH or additional needs (school, residential, or youth work background welcome)
* Calm, empathetic, and patient approach to behaviour management
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A genuine passion for supporting children and young people
* Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
