Job Description

Role: Teaching Assistant - Personal Development Centre

Start Date: As Soon As Possible

Salary (Actual Salary): £17,250 to £17,915

Working Pattern: 30 Hours Per Week, Day to Day, Term Time only + 5 days

About the Academy:

Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth offers a blend of contemporary classrooms, outstanding SEND Provisions and friendly academic staff, making it an ideal setting for those seeking to work in a progressive academy environment. With a new building to accommodate 600 students, the school is committed to continuous improvement in teaching, learning, and assessment, supported by a strong vision and moral purpose.

Feedback from staff is continuously requested, received, and valued by senior leaders within the academy. Staff feel positively about support from leaders, their workloads, and wellbeing. Alongside this, the academy boasts a strong support network across departments through promoting staff to support and empower each other. This is the ideal environment for any individuals who are looking to join an academy that is on a positive transformation pathway.

About the Role:

Any potential candidates must have Grade C or above in Level 2 Maths and English in order to apply for this role. As an experienced Teaching Assistant, you will be well organised, IT literate, and possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You will work as part of a team within the academy to promote the learning and welfare of students by providing practical and learning support to students, including those with special needs. It is essential that you have the ability to respect and maintain confidentiality at all times; establish a supportive relationship with the children concerned and deal with immediate problems or emergencies according to the Academy’s policies and procedures. You will primarily support our Personalised Development Centre, which will assist students returning to the academy after long-term absence. Many of these students may have emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA) which will impact their emotional, mental health, and wellbeing. Potential candidates must have the ability to work with students on an emotional level whilst promoting attendance and bridging the gap in education through 1-1 and small group work.

Contact Information: If you have any questions or would like to discuss the role, please contact Sam Harvey, HR Assistant at s.harvey@bishopsgarth.outwood.com.
