We are looking for enthusiastic and experienced Radiographers to join our Community Radiology Service in East Sussex. We have one full‑time position (37.5 hours per week) or two part‑time positions (22.5 hours per week) available.
Successful applicants will work at Lewes Victoria Hospital, Uckfield Community Hospital, Chailey Clinical Services and Crowborough War Memorial Hospital.
The department has 3 well‑equipped digital x‑ray rooms, 1 CR x‑ray room, 3 ultrasound rooms and a brand new Bone Densitometry suite. It performs a wide range of X‑ray examinations for Primary Care, Musculoskeletal services and the Minor Injury Unit on‑site, and provides a community X‑ray and Ultrasound service and Bone Densitometry scanning for East Sussex.
Working hours
Monday to Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm; Saturday, Sunday and Bank Holidays: 11:00 am – 5:00 pm.
Responsibilities
* Carry out x‑ray examinations in compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 and the Medical Exposure Regulations 2017, following Royal College of Radiologists and College of Radiographers guidelines.
* Supervise staff and student radiographers according to trust policy.
* Perform imaging examinations and care for patients, respecting privacy and confidentiality.
* Work independently within department protocols and make informed clinical decisions without a radiologist.
* Ensure patient confidentiality and data protection in line with trust guidelines.
* Perform equipment quality assurance testing as part of the daily routine when required.
* Abide by health and safety policy; ensure safe practice when handling patients, radiation, hazardous chemicals, noxious fumes and bodily fluids.
* Maintain a safe system of work, observe Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, and report any hazards.
* Report incidents involving staff, patients or visitors to the Radiology Team Leader.
* Use the CRIS radiology information system and PACS for patient management, data collection and storage; share information with other sites.
* Adhere to the trust’s emergency planning processes when required.
* Collaborate with the Radiology Team Lead to ensure smooth daily operations, including absence cover.
* Take responsibility for health and safety issues and reporting within the department.
* Undertake required training and undertake Continuing Professional Development.
* Participate in the out‑of‑hours radiographer rota at Uckfield Community Hospital.
