Overview
The postholder will work as a Healthcare Scientist (Cardiology) in Cardiac Rhythm Management, Angiography and PCI. This is a fixed term contract that will follow a 24-month training program dependent on experience and application. Upon completion / during the postholder will be eligible to apply for a permanent invasive post at the trust as they arise over the 24-month period and post completion.
Responsibilities
* Toworktowardsindependentlyinthecardiaccatheterlabundertakingthephysiologistrole during coronary angiography and angioplasty (PCI).
* To worktowardsindependentlyimplantingandprogrammingcardiacdevicesincluding pacemakers, loop recorders, ICD, and CRT devices.
* Toworktowardsbeingindependentin face-faceandremotefollowupclinicsfortheabove.
* ToachieveBHRSaccreditationwithin24monthsof commencingthepost.
* Participatesintheon-callrotaforInvasiveCardiologyoncecompetent.
* To assist andproduceauditsasrequiredbythe TeamLeaders andClinicalServiceManager.
* ToworkwithintheCardiologyserviceasrequired.
Clinical duties
* Care,maintenance,andsafetychecksforallcomplexequipment youuse.
* Adheringtodepartmentprotocolsandproceduresfollowingnationalguidelines.
* Tocompetentlyundertakehaemodynamicmonitoringduringdiagnosticandinterventional cardiac catheterisation procedures.
* Competentinmanualhandlingskillsforpatientsandequipment.
* Workswithinestablishedprotocols,codesofpracticeandpolicyasaspecialist.
* Bethefirstlineresuscitationwithdefibrillatororassistanceintheinsertionofballoonpump and temporary pacing wires.
* Makesphysiciansawareofuntowardevents.
* Theabilitytoanalyseandactuponcardiaccatheterisationdata.
* Thetechnicalabilitytoprovidesupportserviceprovisionanddecisionmakingduring cardiac device implantation and follow up as an independent practitioner.
* Carriesoutdomiciliaryvisitsasrequired.
* Prioritisestheirownworkload/caseload.
* Maintainsthedevicedatabasesystemforallimplanteddevices.
* Responsiblefortraining,development andsupervisionof studentphysiologistsand junior staff who are undertaking training within the department.
* Isableto carryout,withoutsupervision,andproduceafactualreport onthefollowing: Routine ECG 24-hourECGandBPanalysis Event recording Physiologistledexercisetolerancetesting Cardiac catheterisation and angioplasty Cardiacdeviceimplantationandfollow-upIVUS Pressure wires Haemachronmonitoring Intra-aorticballoonpumpusage.
* Tomaintainprofessionalregistration(AHCS/BHRS).
* Isqualifiedandproficientinintermediatelifesupportskillsandmanualhandling.
* Tocompleteandkeepuptodatewithmandatorytraining
* ComplywithallTrustpolicies,procedures,andprotocols
