Do you have a passion for supporting families and children with complex needs? We are currently looking for caring and passionate Residential support Workers to join our team at Welland House Family Residential Centre on a As & When basis

Location: Market Harborough, Leicestershire

About the Service

Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity, is proud to work in partnership with Leicestershire County Council to deliver innovative residential services for some of the county's most vulnerable children and families.

Welland House provides three self-contained flats for families facing challenges such as learning difficulties, domestic abuse, substance misuse, mental health issues, or trauma. During their stay, parents receive support from Barnardo's staff while undergoing parenting assessments.

Our team promotes best practices through guidance, role modelling, key work sessions, and practical advice—focusing on safety, routines, boundaries, and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Build trusting, nurturing relationships that promote independence and wellbeing
2. Work collaboratively with parents/carers and professionals
3. Support the upkeep of the home, including cooking and cleaning
4. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
5. Uphold safeguarding policies and procedures
6. Ensure a safe and secure environment at all times

What We're Looking For

7. Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve this)
8. Experience working with children, young people, and families
9. Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
10. Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays
11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

While Welland House will be your primary base, you may occasionally be offered the opportunity to support our other Leicestershire Residential homes located across the locality.
