As part of the Legal & Governance team, you will work alongside talented people from a mix of personal and professional backgrounds to support the foundation's fundraising charities: Guys' & St Thomas' Charity, Evalina London Children's Charity and Guy's Cancer Charity.
Your new role
The foundation are recruiting an experienced lawyer to support the development of the team and the work they do across the Foundation. As Senior Legal Counsel, reporting to the Legal Director & Company Secretary, you will be the first port of call for colleagues seeking legal advice in relation to new partnership contracts, grant agreements and general commercial contracts. You will provide guidance for the Foundation’s innovative impact-led programmes and activities and our work with Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, as well as assisting with varied internal governance and compliance matters.
What you'll need to succeed
To succeed in this role, you will need to meet the following essential criteria:
* Professional qualifications: You will be qualified to law in England & Wales, with a current practising certificate and several years' PQE.
* Experience: You will have experience drafting and reviewing commercial/partnership contracts and grant agreements. This experience may have been gained within a charity team in private practice or within another charity.
* Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of UK charity law, commercial and contract law, and a track record of how to apply them is essential. Some familiarity with health/social care law would be helpful.
* Skills: You should possess problem-solving skills, the ability to understand and interpret complex legislation, regulations and guidance and make it accessible to others, and the ability to constructively challenge the status quo and see alternative solutions to overcome barriers.
* Teamwork and Organisation: You should be an excellent team player willing to be flexible to support colleagues in a busy environment. You should be numerate with the ability to record and assimilate complex information accurately. Excellent time management with the ability to prioritise work and produce high-quality outputs is also required.
