Operator / Electrician – Permanent, Full Time (5‑week rolling shift pattern) located on‑site at Irvine, North Ayrshire. The role is part of Alpheus, a division of the Anglian Water Group, working at the Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Irvine.
Overview
You will be part of a close‑knit shift team supporting each other and maintaining high operational standards. This new role focuses on proactive maintenance, fault‑finding, operation of plant assets and basic laboratory testing to meet environmental permit requirements and improve plant performance.
Responsibilities
* Carry out proactive maintenance, fault‑finding and repair work around the WWTP.
* Operate the plant and perform routine set‑point review and adjustment.
* Sampling and basic laboratory testing of effluent.
* Support and promote a positive health and safety culture.
* Maintain cleanliness and operational efficiency, meeting KPIs and targets.
* Ensure compliance of treated effluent discharge and optimal performance of the Anaerobic Digester (AD) plant.
* Follow asset‑management plans and procedures in a controlled H&S environment.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a similar role preferred.
* Relevant electrical, mechanical or instrument qualifications (City and Guilds / (S)NVQ).
* Experience of laboratory testing advantageous but not essential.
* Familiarity with waste‑water operations and/or industrial processing plant desirable.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills with a flexible, team‑player attitude.
* Willingness to work shifts, weekends, bank holidays and on‑call rotation.
