Salary: £25,191 or £13.01 to £25,590 or £13.25 per hour (pro rata for part time working)

Working Hours: up to 25 hours per week (split shift) for school term time only with the opportunity for additional hours (when available).

Contract Type: Permanent and Casual

About the Role

We are currently looking to recruit a number of drivers for our Passenger Fleet Team.


Drivers are primarily responsible for transporting vulnerable adults and children with special educational needs including physical and /or learning difficulties to their School, Day Centres and other activities.

Drivers will ensure (along with the escort - where allocated) their passengers' personal wellbeing and safe/secure travel at all times, in accordance with the job description, relevant Policies, legislation, Procedures and good practice. Duties may also include transporting associated goods and services.

There are various vacancies available operating from depots across the County of Leicestershire

Current vacancy packages:

Permanent positions:

DRIVER

Blaby – 1 x 15 hrs per week (Mon to Wed) split shift, Term time only

Blaby – 1 x 25 hrs per week (Mon to Fri) split shift, Term time only

Nailstone – 1 x 20 hrs per week ( Mon, Tue, Thur and Fri) split shift, Term time only

Mountsorrel - 1 x 10 hrs per week (Thur and Fri) split shift, Term time only

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must have:

1. Full Driving Licence prior to 1/1/1997 OR post 1/1/1997 Driving License with minibus entitlement category D1 (minimum) or D

And experience or knowledge in:
2. Driving and transporting individuals/groups of people.
3. Working face-to-face with the general public within a service provision environment providing customer care and quality services.
4. Keeping written records / documentation in a neat and tidy manner and sufficiently numerate to complete worksheets
5. Road Traffic Legislation and Highway Code
6. Able to communicate verbally with people of varying capabilities, including those with challenging behaviours
7. Ability, with training, to undertake a series of moving and handling operations associated with the transport of people and static loads

In addition, we also expect you to share and to delivering accessible and inclusive services which meet the needs of all of our residents. You will be asked to demonstrate your understanding of these commitments as part of the selection process.
