Job Description: Unique in-house role for a Dispute Resolution / Commercial Litigation lawyer to join an innovative financial services company. This role can be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, with hybrid working options available.
Role Profile:
In this role, you will be part of a highly successful in-house legal team, working directly with the Head of Dispute Resolution. Your responsibilities will include:
Providing pragmatic legal advice on disputes and related issues escalated to the legal team.
Collaborating with business stakeholders to understand issues, directing investigations, and providing recommendations.
Drafting legal documents and working with client legal teams as needed.
Instructing and managing external legal advisors, building relationships, and managing budgets.
Providing legal input on complaints through pension scheme dispute procedures and involving relevant ombudsmen.
Advising on data breaches, working with Data Protection Officers and teams.
Responding to due diligence queries and tenders related to dispute resolution.
Presenting to internal governance groups to seek consent, highlight trends, and build consensus.
Liaising with brokers, insurers, supporting renewals, and managing notifications and reports.
Collaborating with Finance on monthly meetings and audits.
Staying updated on legal developments and implementing changes.
Drafting best practice notes, developing policies, and assisting with training.
Candidate Requirements:
Fully qualified Lawyer in Scotland and/or England & Wales.
Experience in dispute resolution, preferably in pensions within FCA regulated environments or financial services.
Knowledge of the pensions or financial services industry.
Experience with the Pensions Ombudsman / Financial Ombudsman Service.
Understanding of actuarial standards and FCA rules.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Flexible, adaptable, and confident approach.
Ability to challenge stakeholders constructively at all levels.
