We are lookingfor a skilled and compassionate Phlebotomist to join our primary care team fixedterm 12-month basis, working 9 hours per week.
The successfulcandidate will be responsible for drawing blood samples from patients forvarious tests and procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughoutthe process. This role is ideal for someone with excellent attention to detailand a passion for patient care.
Main duties of the job
Working under the direction of the lead nurse and as part of thepractice multidisciplinary team, the post holder will be responsible forperforming venepuncture, as requested by the clinical team, to the entitledpatient population. In addition, the Phlebotomistwill be expected to support the nursing team on an as required basis.

Job responsibilities
Primary Key Responsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Phlebotomist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out othertasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffinglevels:
* Obtainingpatient consent for the collection of a blood sample
* Performingvenepuncture in accordance with practice protocols
* Maintainingaccurate patient records on the clinical IT system
* Thecorrect labelling, packaging and storing of samples
* Effectiveuse of the specimen log, resolving any discrepancies
* Ensuringsamples are sent to the laboratory in a timely manner
* Maintainingan effective liaison with the NHS Trust laboratory staff
* Workingcollaboratively with the nursing team, seeking guidance when necessary forpatient related matters

* Participate in practice audit as directed by the audit lead

* Experience of working with the general public
* Experience of working in a healthcare setting
* Experience of working in a primary care environment
