Strategic Grid Manager

I'm currently recruiting for a Strategic Grid Manager to lead the planning and execution of integrated technology and infrastructure initiatives that support success in the Irish renewable energy sector. This position will focus on the commercial development phase, fostering partnerships, driving early-stage development activities, and ensuring a strategic and optimised approach to infrastructure delivery.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop a comprehensive grid and infrastructure plan aligned with national energy policies and industry standards, ensuring scalability and future readiness.

* Collaborate with engineering, grid, planning, and investment teams to deliver infrastructure plans that align with organisational strategy.

* Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory bodies, industry partners, and other stakeholders to secure support for infrastructure projects.

* Lead stakeholder engagement and represent the organisation in public consultations, forums, and industry events.

* Create and manage a roadmap for infrastructure deployment and investment that supports sustainable growth and operational efficiency.

* Oversee contractual negotiations to ensure optimal outcomes and the timely execution of agreements.

* Work with internal teams to develop robust investment cases for strategic infrastructure projects.

* Contribute to long-term financial and strategic planning, ensuring coordinated efforts across the organisation.

* Mentor and develop project management and technical teams, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.

* Lead cross-departmental initiatives to drive alignment and deliver business objectives.

* Promote knowledge sharing and professional development within the team.

* Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and welfare requirements.

* Actively engage in performance management processes to support delivery of team and organisational goals.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

* Third-level qualification in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related field.

* At least 10 years' experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.

* Proven record of managing major projects with full ownership of delivery.

* Strong technical knowledge of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation.

* Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure.

* Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multi-stakeholder relationships in complex environments.

* Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP) is desirable.

* Strong commercial acumen, with experience in budget control, procurement, contract negotiation, and resource optimisation.

* Adaptable, innovative, and solutions-focused.

* Background in Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Technology, or Grid Infrastructure preferred.

* Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Management, or Commercial disciplines is advantageous.
