We are now looking for an Assistant to the Data Protection Officer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm. The Role As the Assistant to the Data Protection Officer (DPO), you’ll help us to meet our obligations under UK GDPR and uphold the highest standards of privacy and accountability. You’ll support the DPO in overseeing data protection compliance across parishes, central services, and diocesan agencies, ensuring that personal data is handled with care, transparency, and integrity. Ensuring all data practices meet legal requirements and best practice standards, you will review operations and data use, support privacy impact assessments and audits, and provide guidance on compliance issues. Additionally, you will: - Support the development and monitoring of data protection policies and procedures - Act as a first point of contact for compliance queries across the Diocese - Deliver privacy awareness training and co-ordinate data privacy audits - Review data sharing and processing agreements with third parties - Help maintain statutory records and ensure timely reporting on data privacy compliance About You To be considered as an Assistant to the Data Protection Officer, you will need: - Experience in a similar role (data protection or compliance) - Experience working within a faith-based, non-profit, or charitable organisation - Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint - The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion - A data protection and/or privacy certification (or the willingness to obtain one) Please note, a DBS check may be requested for this role.
