As a Senior Design Engineer based in Staffordshire (hybrid, two days on site), you’ll guide concepts into robust, manufacturable products for a well-known UK brand. Scope of the Role
As a Senior Design Engineer, you’ll add technical judgement early, then own delivery through manufacture. You’ll work with industrial design, suppliers, and stakeholders to reduce risk and move faster.
* Develop products from concept to manufacture.
* Assess feasibility, trade-offs, risk, and delivery routes.
* Produce CAD, drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
* Apply DFM across plastics, metals, and assemblies.
* Engage UK and international suppliers through sampling and pre-production.
Key Skills and Experience Required
* Proven Senior Design Engineer, Product Design Engineer, or Mechanical Design Engineer on physical consumer products.
* End-to-end NPD, from early concept to release.
* Strong DFM judgement, cost/quality trade-offs, supplier collaboration.
* Communicate trade-offs clearly to non-engineers.
* Comfortable with ambiguity and field insight when useful.
Salary and Benefits
* £65,000 – £70,000 basic salary, depending on experience.
* Hybrid working: minimum two days per week in Tamworth.
* UK and international supplier travel when needed.
