Job Title: Estimator

Pay Range/details: Up to £40,000 per annum + commission
Contract Type: Permanent
Omega are supporting a leading Fire and Security business in their search for an experienced Estimator to join their growing team. This is a key role focused on managing enquiries, surveying sites, and producing compliant, accurate designs and quotations for fire and security systems.
Key Responsibilities – Estimator
* Manage and respond to incoming enquiries from both new and existing clients, ensuring all requests for quotations are handled accurately, professionally, and within agreed timescales.
* Engage directly with clients to understand their operational, compliance, and budgetary requirements, providing informed advice on appropriate fire and security system solutions.
* Conduct comprehensive site surveys, assessing building layouts, risks, access requirements, and existing systems to gather all necessary information for accurate system design and costing.
* Prepare detailed and competitive cost estimates, including materials, labour, equipment, subcontractor costs, and any associated project expenses.
* Produce clear, professional, and technically accurate quotations, ensuring all assumptions, exclusions, and specifications are clearly documented.
* Present proposed designs and costings to clients, addressing technical queries, negotiating where appropriate, and supporting the process through to order confirmation.
* Liaise closely with operations, engineering, and project delivery teams to ensure a smooth and effective handover once projects are secured.
* Maintain accurate records of enquiries, surveys, designs, and quotations in line with company procedures and CRM systems.
* Stay up to date with changes in fire and security legislation, standards, and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to improve solutions and maintain compliance.
Qualifications & Requirements – Estimator
* Proven experience estimating Fire & Security systems within a construction or project-led environment.
* Strong knowledge of fire alarms, emergency lighting, CCTV, access control, and intruder systems, with an understanding of current British Standards and compliance requirements.
* Experience carrying out site surveys on live construction sites and working alongside main contractors, consultants, and project teams.
* Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and tender documentation to produce accurate and commercially viable estimates.
* Confident communicator with strong organisational skills, able to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and estimating software; CAD or take-off software experience is advantageous.
