Ship Manager, Marine Technical Operations
The Ship Manager, Marine Technical Operations, drives ongoing engagement between the shoreside Marine Technical Operations organization and the senior Marine Management onboard their vessels. This role is responsible for the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of vessels, fostering innovation to meet and exceed company goals. The position is result-driven, strategic, and involves frequent interaction with both shipboard and shoreside teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure the safe, compliant, and efficient operation of assigned vessels.
* Monitor and oversee maintenance plans, ship repairs, equipment purchases, and budget control.
* Manage dry-docking processes and related projects within budget.
* Maintain effective communication between shoreside Marine Technical Operations and onboard management.
* Ensure vessels comply with all relevant regulations and standards.
* Oversee daily operational and financial management, focusing on OPEX, repairs, maintenance, consumables, and hotel costs.
* Implement safety and environmental compliance initiatives.
* Review fleet performance metrics, identify improvements, and implement corrective actions.
* Conduct regular performance calls with vessels for transparency and improvement actions.
* Oversee guarantee processes and claims handling with yards.
* Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including management, regulatory bodies, and customers.
* Participate in fleet operation projects, ensuring timely completion.
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
* Background as a Naval Architect or Marine/Mechanical Engineer with a relevant degree.
* 5-10 years of experience in shipping, cruise line, classification society, or similar.
* Experience as a Chief Engineer in a cruise line is highly desirable.
* Ability to manage financial aspects and operational efficiencies.
* Proven skills in coaching, counseling, and disciplinary processes.
