leWe are seeking experienced professionals to join our pool of Technical Assessors (TAs) specialising in Hardness Calibration. As a TA, you will support UKAS in assessing organisations against relevant standards, ensuring technical competence and impartiality in their operations. * de:Planning and conducting assessments of conformity assessment bodies working in mechanical calibration, specifically hardness calibrati
* on.Reviewing technical documentation and procedures for calibration of hardness testing machines, hardness calibration machines, reference blocks, and indente
* rs.Evaluating compliance with standards such as ISO 6506, ISO 6507, ISO 6508, ISO 4545, ISO 48-9, and ISO/IEC 170
* 25.Providing expert input to support accreditation decisions and reporting findings accurate
ly.
What We’re Looking
ForWe welcome applications from individuals w
* ith:Practical experience in calibrating hardness indenters, reference blocks, testing and calibration hardness machines, or indentation measuring devi
* ces.Knowledge and application of hardness testing machines and calibration equipment, including associated instruments (e.g., force proving devices, indentation measuring systems, depth measuring systems, stage micrometers and laser interferomete
* rs).Awareness of standards and specifications relevant to hardness calibration, including ISO 6506, ISO 6507, ISO 6508, ISO 4545, ISO 48-9, and ISO/IEC 17025 which sets out the general requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laborator
* ies.Understanding of uncertainty of measurement contributions affecting results of calibrati
* ons.Qualifications such as a Degree, City & Guilds, HNC, ONC, or BTech in a physical science or engineering/metrology-based discipline are considered appropriate, though not mandat
* ory.Professional membership is not required, but a commitment to maintaining high standards is essent
ial.
