The Role


The Assistant Practitioner (Practice Education) will provide support for the educational and development activities within the Practice Development centre, relating primarily to the Healthcare Support Worker (HCSW) workforce within Nursing Midwifery and Allied Health Profession services. The aim of the role is to enhance the quality of work-based learning experiences for relevant NMAHP staff and positively contribute to the future HCSW workforce. The purpose of the role is also to:

* Support the training and education needs of relevant NMAHP staff as identified by Practice Education and Practice Development Teams.
* Take part in orientation and induction programmes for new HCSWs.
* Support practice education /development teams with the assessment of HCSWs undertaking work-based competences and qualifications.
* Be involved in the planning and delivery of specific teaching sessions for relevant NMAHP staff under the direction of practice development/practice education facilitators.
* Act as a HCSW learning and development link for Practice Development and Practice Education teams
* Support the maintenance of communication networks and learning forums for HCSWs

What we'll need you to bring

* Formal qualification at HNC Level or equivalent level of experience in a health / education / social care environment plus short specialist courses relevant to specific clinical area.
* Awareness of health legislation relevant to the clinical area.
* Knowledge of the clinical speciality/area process, techniques and / or activities relevant to client group.
* Ability to apply a range of technical and practical skills.
* Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
* Time management, planning and organisational skills.
* Working knowledge of basic information technology.
* Ability to work individually or as part of a team.
* Ability to learn and develop new skills and maintain a record of learning.
* Full driving license holder

Please note for all vacancies where a driving licence is required this must be a full UK/EU/EEA licence.


It would be great if you also have

* Completed or working towards a qualification in education, training and assessment
* Proven experience of providing education or training to others
* Understanding and/or experience of work-based qualifications for HCSWs e.g. SVQs, modern apprenticeship frameworks
* Excellent communicator who is able to motivate others to develop
* Ability to work without direct supervision


Contract type

* Fixed Term or Secondment for 12 months
* Full time
* 37 hours

Please note this is a fixed term post for 12 months. Where a post only has temporary funding and an existing member of NHS Lanarkshire staff wishes to apply, this will be treated as a secondment. The employee MUST already have written agreement from their line manager to be released on a secondment before applying for the post.


Location and Working Pattern


This role will be based in NMAHP Practice Development within Beckford St.
