Barry’s is the Best Workout in the World™. Founded in West Hollywood in 1998, it’s the original strength and cardio interval fitness experience that provides an immersive, high‑intensity, one‑hour workout that’s as effective as it is fun. Our fitness classes alternate between working out with weights and running on a treadmill, with each day focusing on a different muscle group to achieve real results and prevent injuries. Our program is designed to tone muscle and maximize fat loss while spiking metabolism for up to 48 hours following the class.

Objective

The General Manager serves as the leader of their single Barry’s studio, and is responsible for overall operation, client experience, people management, and performance. A successful candidate in the General Manager role is passionate about health and wellness, loves to lead alongside a team, is able to work with teams locally and remotely, and thrives in a fast‑paced people‑filled setting.


What You’ll Do


Studio Operations

* Oversee daily studio operations and studio management teams, including Front Desk, FuelBar, Retail, and Facilities operations.
* Manage and drive studio performance, work strategically to assess and meet all key studio, retail, and FuelBar business performance metrics, and make appropriate, informed business decisions.
* Oversee all labor schedules to ensure proper coverage and alignment with budgeted hours.
* Conduct regular inspections of all studio spaces and manage projects to ensure facilities are clean and updated, working with local and corporate leadership on quick execution of facilities initiatives and repairs.
* Maintain a working presence in studios, covering studio management shifts as needed to showcase the best of brand skills and mentor employees as well as other managers.
* Assist with new studio openings when necessary.
* Manage communications with and between supervisors, peers, and subordinates regarding studio needs to ensure that all departments are properly supported and supplied at all times.
* In partnership with other studio management, recruit, screen, and onboard new employees across all departments.
* Analyse the level of training conducted across the studio and its departments to ensure that all team members are consistent and proficient in Barry’s hospitality standards.
* Coach a team of motivated employees, conduct regular performance reviews, and work with the People and Culture (HR) Department to address personnel concerns or issues.


Community Marketing and Studio Dynamics

* Partner with the local and corporate marketing team on ideating and implementing new brand initiatives with positive impact for clients and employees.
* Partner with the local and corporate marketing team on a client and corporate acquisition strategy for the studio, adjusting as necessary.
* Work with leadership to create and maintain a unified culture as well as a high level of staff engagement throughout the studio.

* Represent the Barry’s brand within the studio and throughout the local fitness community.
* Participate in enhancing the community with your studio and regional teams.

Authority and High‑Level Requirements

* Work in partnership with People and Culture/ line manager to exercise the use of your best judgement to hire, discipline, transfer, promote or terminate other employees.
* Are responsible for managing the Studio Operations function and the Front Desk department of the Company’s regional business.
* Must regularly exercise discretion and independent judgement with respect to staff recruitment and management, and client relations.
* Must draw upon advanced knowledge in the fields of hospitality and operations management to perform essential job functions of this position.


Minimum Requirements

* Currently meeting or exceeding all goals/ KPI’s.
* Exhibits Barry’s values and professionalism in everyday behaviour.
* Proven track record of performance development working in partnership with line manager and People and Culture (HR) leading to elevated skill and/ or internal promotions in home studio.
* Seen as a leader and advisor amongst peer groups.
* Successful in leading with solution‑oriented thinking amongst peers in group settings/ weekly or monthly meetings to advance business and support company/market programs/projects.
* Proven track record of performance in support and execution of company initiatives/processes in their home studios.
* Successfully supports training and coaching in home studio/market.
* Availability for full time work during non‑traditional hours, which may include early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays.


Skills & Proficiencies

* Knowledge of finance, including expense management and budgeting.
* Understanding of the Fitness space and overall Health & Wellness industries.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft, G‑Suite.
* Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
* Ability to garner consensus from a large team and obtain stakeholder buy‑in on new, complex or challenging ideas.
* Strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with different personality types as well as other departments, vendors and clients.
* Ability to lead, delegate to, and collaborate with a team of direct reports and peers.
* Possess strong communication, delegation and time management skills.
* Possess strong negotiation, mediation and problem‑solving skills.
* Ability to coach, train and motivate employees.


Essential Skills and Abilities

* Ability to work a full‑time schedule of at least 40 hours per week, 5 days per week.
* Ability to maintain regular, consistent and reliable attendance in the workplace.
* Ability to routinely and consistently sit, stand, bend, reach, lift, push, pull 50 pounds, and to type, speak, read and write for as much as 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
* Ability to perform work on/using a telephone/computer for as much as 8 hours per day, 5 days per week.
* Ability to read, speak, write effectively communicate verbally in writing in English with coworkers, customers, clients and/or vendors.
* Ability to effectively lead and manage subordinate employees.
* Ability to think creatively and be responsive on a timely basis to both predictable and unpredictable workplace issues.
* Ability effectively work as part of a team.
* Ability to understand the financial impact of their decisions.
